Smartwatch for bike navigation

Hello

I’m starting to look for a sport watch that I could use mainly for hiking.

On the other hand (joking aside), I’d like to use it sometimes for navigation on my bike. I often don’t know how to get from one place to another in my city… but I don’t have a real smartphone (just a dumbphone running Android)… So I’d like something like a synchronisation between google maps on my computer and my watch… like a ‘send route’ option, which could very quickly send the route from my computer to my watch.

I’ve done some research and found the ‘send route’ option on komoot but it seems a bit tricky and slow.

Is there anything really fast, perhaps via google maps?

I use audio navigation from my phone.

My coverage is so spotty that audio navigation isn’t a real option for me . She’ll tell me to do a U turn after I’ve been riding the wrong way for five minutes. Meanwhile on the map you can clearly see that I’ve gone off the trail and it just doesn’t know what to do about it yet.

omg same. I’ve also had a lot of trips recently where it clearly thinks I’m a couple of blocks parallel of where I am, but I have gotten used to it, so it is not AS disorienting

It’s so frustrating, I can see me on the map… I’M CLEARLY NOT ON THE LINE GUYS

I have a garmin watch and while its great for tracking ride data, its kinda junk for navigation. The display is just too small and you only get a little map with a “you are this triangle” icon. If what you want it a map with turn by turn directions, mount a phone or get a low to mid level bike computer.

Watches are great for data collection (especially heart rate etc) but computers are vastly better for navigation. Nav features on any watch feel jammed in.
