Help Needed… Can You Install Wear OS on a Chinese Smartwatch?

I have this random Chinese smartwatch that my mom got for free during a shopping spree. I really like the look of it, but the software feels buggy and awkward to use. Is there a way to remove the current software and install Wear OS or any other watch software? I’d really appreciate some help with this!

I’d love to try this with mine too, but I don’t think it’s possible, sadly.

Aww man :pensive:

No way, sorry. These cheaper models have a dedicated closed OS, and all we get are the few options available from within the app or the watch itself.

The good thing, though, is that they usually have much better battery life compared to the advanced ones that need power-hungry chips for Wear OS.

True, the trade-off between simplicity and battery life is real. Closed OS watches might not have all the options, but their long battery life is definitely a big plus for a lot of people.

Yeah, a lot of Wear OS watches struggle to last more than a day or two. I used a basic 7mm thin one that lasted six weeks on a tiny 185mAh battery, with all the monitoring on.

It’s such a huge difference…

Also, Wear OS watches are usually twice as thick just to fit a bigger battery so they can last through the day…

Amazon has similar watches. Temu and AliExpress have many other models, both cheap and expensive. Personally, I buy a new smartwatch every year. Outside of Australia, you can get some great deals through e-commerce sites.

You’ll have enough experience soon to find a better smartwatch for your needs.
