Does Garmin really mess up sleep tracking?

Hi everyone, why is the Garmin Venu 3 so bad at tracking sleep? I had a Galaxy Watch 7 before, and it was way more accurate. Garmin doesn’t even realize when I’m awake. :sob:

Swipe up, go to the sleep score, tap it, and let the watch know you’re awake. I love my Venu 3 and haven’t had any issues with it so far. Hope that helps!

Are you talking about the watch not recognizing when you’re awake during the night, the sleep start time being off, or when it shows you as still asleep after you’ve woken up?

For waking during the night: I’ve found the tracking pretty accurate, especially when I snooze my alarm. But everyone’s different. It uses movement and heart rate, and optical HR can be affected by skin tone, body composition, hair, or tattoos. Maybe try wearing it on the other wrist—it’s worth a shot. It also gives your regular wrist a break.

For the sleep start time being wrong: This is an issue with Garmin sometimes, but all watches struggle with it. Here are a couple of tips to improve accuracy: 1) Set the sleep start time to something realistic for when you actually fall asleep. If you’re reading or watching TV in bed, set it later. 2) Try moving around a bit if you’re very still before bed—something noticeable like shifting positions or raising your hands can help the watch not assume you’ve gone to sleep too early.

For the wake-up time being off: Turn on the Morning Report feature. Once you interact with it, sleep tracking should automatically stop. If that doesn’t work, open the sleep widget in the widget glances, and it will ask if you want to end sleep tracking. Confirm, and you’re good to go.

Thanks so much for your detailed advice! I’ll try everything you mentioned and see if it improves.
