Anyone using Huawei D2 with Garmin Edge? Questions about offline maps and Strava

Hi everyone, I’ve got a few questions about the Huawei D2 watch.

  1. Can you use offline maps on it?
  2. Is it possible to connect the D2 to a Garmin Edge 1030 to track heart rate while cycling?
  3. I know Strava works for walking, running, and cycling, but is there any way to log other workouts like strength training or yoga on Strava?
  1. I don’t think offline maps are available unless there’s an app specifically for that. As far as I know, only the GT5 models have this feature.
  2. You’d need HR broadcast functionality. Check the manual to be sure.
  3. Strava supports more activity types than just walking, running, and cycling. If your workout isn’t showing correctly, try editing the activity type in Strava.

@Ari

  1. I haven’t found any app for offline maps.
  2. No info on HR broadcast either.
  3. Strava only seems to publish walking, running, and cycling for me.

If 1) and 2) aren’t available, then you’re out of luck with this watch.

For 3), Strava definitely supports more activities. If your data isn’t syncing properly, it might be an issue with the watch. You can edit activities manually in Strava. For example, using the Strava app, tap your profile, scroll down to ‘Activities,’ and use the filters to check for specific types like surfing, swimming, or strength training. Older or non-Garmin watches sometimes don’t categorize activities correctly.

Personally, I don’t rely on Strava much. I prefer Garmin Connect for the extra metrics. Strava is mostly for connecting with friends and family who don’t use Garmin.
